Recipes for Fun in the Sun

Remember to get an adult to help with all the instructions that need the stove top, the oven or a knife!

Sandbox Pudding Cups

You will need:
Ready-to-eat pudding cups, favourite flavours
Crushed up graham crackers
Small paper umbrellas
Gummy worms, teddies or fruit snacks in fun shapes

Remove the foil top off the pudding cup.  Sprinkle crumbs all over the top to make a “sandbox”. Place the umbrella off to one side. Place a gummy treat or fruit snack on the “sand”.  Eat and enjoy.

Fruit Pizza

1 tube of ready-made sugar cookie dough
1 (8 ounce) package cream cheese
½ cup white sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla
Fruit – try apples, peaches, bananas, strawberries, kiwi, grapes

Flatten the ready-made dough into a pizza pan and bake according to the instructions.  Allow to cool. In a medium bowl, mix the cream cheese, sugar and vanilla together and spread on the cookie dough pizza.  Arrange fruit on top in a nice pattern. Chill.  Cut into pizza slices for serving.

Pink Honey Lemonade

1 cup water
3 fresh strawberries, sliced
1 cup white sugar
½ cup brown sugar
1 tsp honey
7 cups water
1 ¾ cups fresh lemon juice
2 slices orange

In a pot, combine the 1 cup water, strawberries, white and brown sugar and honey. Bring to a boil then simmer for 10 minutes, stirring occasionally.  Cool to room temperature, cover and chill.  In a large pitcher, mix together 7 cups water, lemon juice and orange slices.  Stir in cooled syrup and keep chilled.  Enjoy over ice!

Wrap it Up!

Grab a tortilla, pita or cracker bread and stuff it with your choice of fillings!

Try:
Lettuce
Cooked chicken or beef chunks
Cucumbers
Salsa
Ham
Turkey
Peanut butter
Chicken salad
Cooked rice
Ranch salad dressing
Tomatoes
Sour cream
Cheese
Cranberry sauce
Egg salad
Tuna

The ideas are endless!  Use your imagination and great leftovers in your fridge to create the sandwich wrap of your dreams.
