Cool Organizing Craft – Cereal Box Magazine Holder

Don't throw away old cereal boxes! Turn them into magazine & art supply holders!

You Will Need:

  1. Empty cereal box
  2. Scissors
  3. White acrylic paint or spray paint
  4. Light green and dark green acrylic paint
  5. Sponge or foam stamp, your choice of shape
  6. Thin paint brush
  7. Sand paper or gesso/craft medium

What To Do:

  1. Cut off the top of a cereal box.
  2. Halfway across the top of the box, cut at a 45 degree angle down to the front of your magazine holder. Now cut across the side, then back up the other side at the 45 degree angle again.
  3. Lightly sandpaper outside of the cereal box. This removes a bit of the shine so the paint will stick or you can cover the box with gesso.
  4. Cover the entire box in white paint. You can spray it or use a brush.
  5. Let dry.
  6. Cut out your shape of choice from a sponge or use a foam stamp.
  7. Pour out a small amount of paint to use for stamping.
  8. Use a thin paint brush to add details or enhance the design.
  9. Sponge paint or use the foam stamp on the front, sides and back of box.
  10. If you are painting more than one box, you can make the designs match or line up so they look cool all together on a shelf.
  11. You can also use glued fabric pieces instead of stamps.
  12. You can also use detergent boxes instead of cereal boxes if they need to be more sturdy.
