Inexpensive Fitness

Young people between the ages of 15 and 25 are encouraged to participate in about 60 minutes of physical activity every day, but it doesn’t have to be all at once.  10 minutes at a time 6 times per day will still give you the same benefits!

Some of the best keep-fit ideas are free, and some of the others are very low cost:

  • Jog!
  • Hike – explore new territory.
  • Walk – If you have a dog, volunteer to walk it.
  • Swim at your local pool.
  • Skate at the arena or a neighbourhood rink.
  • Babysit a toddler – follow them around!
  • Library DVD rentals of fitness programs are very low cost.
  • Workouts on TV or Internet are free!
  • Offer to clean out the house or work in the garden.
  • Skateboard.
  • Jump rope.
  • Ask friends and relatives about exercise equipment growing dusty and use it.

Choose an active volunteer activity – two commitments that make you feel good!
